Here are some ways to help the victims of the Pulse Orlando Nightclub Shooting! The urgency is blood…lots and lots of blood!
The OneBlood center put out a call for blood donations for the Orlando victims on Sunday.
“There is an urgent need for O Negative, O Positive and AB Plasma blood donors following a mass shooting in Orlando, Florida,” OneBlood said in a news release, according to the Orlando Sentinel. “Dozens of people have been injured and taken to area hospitals. The need for blood continues.”
Officials urged those who want to donate to go to local blood banks, not to hospitals.
These are the federal rules on who can donate blood.
A fund is being set up to support the victims, the Miami Herald reports. We’ll update with more information when it becomes available.
Attend a Vigil
Orlando’s LGBT community was planning a vigil for the victims of the shooting, the Sentinel reports. Details were still being determined as of Sunday morning.
The Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender Community Center of Central Florida asked counselors from the Orlando area to come in and help field phone calls on a hotline, the Sentinel reports. Those who would like to speak to a counselor can call 1-407-228-1446.
